Club history


 

When eight young men founded the “Ping Pong Fingig” at Fingig in 1958, probably no one really believed that this our village club would exist that long.

 

on 29.01.1958:

Gründungsversammlung des Vereins.

on 15.06.1958:

Officially admitted at the congress of the FLTT at Bonnevoie (37 clubs).


 

September 1958:

Start of championships with 2 teams.

In December 1958 the club has 15 members.

The “Café Robert Henn” in Clemency will be the club house of the D.T. Fingig and will have its function as 2nd match room of the club.


 

on 10.01.1960:

The first edition of the “Cup Jempy Schmitz” is held and the winner is:

  • Nicolas Freylinger

 

1962/1963

Fingig registers a first junior team.


 

1963/1964

The “Café Schmitz” in Fingig becomes club house of the D.T. Fingig.


 

1965/1966

A student championship is held for the first time. Fingig wins the student champion title without losing one encounter. The members of the team are:

  • GOERES Romain
  • Coach: HENN Arthur

Solemn inauguration of the enlarged match room in Fingig.


 

1968/1969

The committee is increased from 5 to 7 members.


 

1969/1970

The first girls join the club.


 

1970/1971

The first girls join the club.

First edition of the “Tournoi de la Bonne Entente”, international team tournament.


 

1972/1973

Fingig 1 becomes district champion and is promoted to the “honorary promotion”. The members of the team are:

  • SCHOLLER Guy
  • LECHES Paul

 

1974/1975

Our junior team becomes champion of the 4th division. The members of the team are:

  • GIRA Carlo

The girls team becomes, without losing a single points, champion of the 2nd division. The members of the team are:

  • THILL Monique
  • THILL Liette

1976/1977

Fingig 1 is promoted to the “promotion”. The members of the team are:

  • MEISENBURG André
  • SCHMITZ Romain
  • ZOVER André

Fingig 3 becomes district champion and is promoted to the 3rd division. The members of the team are:

  • OLINGER Fernand
  • Scholler Léon
  • THORN Josy
  • THILL Monique

Inauguration of the sports hall in Clemency (training once per week, Saturdays championship matches).


 

1981/1982

The club gets new uniforms and sweat suits.


 

1984/1985

FLTT merit badge is given to:

The merit badge from the sports ministry is given to:

Retirement of president SCHMITZ Jean-Paul, he is awarded the title of Honorary President.
